COMMUNITY OUTREACH
The Community Outreach Committee's goal is to enhance and expand Winston-Salem Writers' reputation throughout the greater community. WSW members bring ideas for involvement to the committee and the committee determines whether the project, activity, or event follows WSW's' mission to build the local writing community and help writers improve their craft. If so, the committee brings the idea before the WSW board for discussion and approval.
Outreach projects in the past have included judging senior citizen literary competitions and providing prize money, providing prize money for middle school writing contests, donating funds to Arts For Life programs at Brenner Children's Hospital, as well as purchasing and donating complete sets of Flying South to local libraries.
The Community Outreach Committee meets whenever a WSW member suggests an activity that will expand our visibility and mission, and includes the need to make recommendations to the board.
