Free Poetry Workshop

Saturday, September 24 | 1:00p-4:00p
Reynolda Manor Branch of Forsyth County Public Library, 2839 Fairlawn Dr.

What is poetry? How does poetry differ from prose? How does one constructing a poem use similes and metaphors? How do rhyme and paradox affect a poem?

Led by Peter Venable, a published poet and featured Poetry In Plain Sight contributor, this workshop is designed for new and novice poetry lovers although anyone may attend! Perspectives on the craft of poetry shall be presented, and participants shall have opportunity to construct their own poems, emerging from prompts provided in this workshop.

Bring a pad of paper, pens, or laptops. Free parking is available at the library and across the street at Reynolda Manor shopping center. Prior registration is encouraged. Email donna@wswriters.org, or sign up at the Reynolda Branch circulation desk.

This program is co-sponsored by Winston Salem Writers and Forsyth County Public Library.
