Poetry in Plain Sight

Winston-Salem Writers Poetry in Plain Sight program has selected the following poems to appear on bus posters from October through December:

Seasons, by Malinda Fillingim, Leland, NC

Leaves, by Joan Leotta, Calabash, NC

Campanile, by Ed Robson, Winston-Salem, NC

Diminuendo, by Peg Robarchek, Charlotte, NC

Poetry in Plain Sight is a program bringing poetry to downtown Winston-Salem. Winston- Salem Writers received an Innovative Projects Grant from the Winston-Salem Forsyth County Arts Council for 2014 and 2015 to place specially designed Poetry in Plain Sight posters in all 58 buses of the Winston-Salem Transit Authority. This honors the vision of the artist who originally conceived this idea, the late Rodney Holman. Four times during the year (every quarter), a new poem (one of four) will be placed in city buses. The goal is to bring poetry to a wider audience and to support North Carolina poets.
