Winston Salem Writers is pleased to announce the 2017 contest and new submission guidelines for Flying South is available on the website HERE Categories: POETRY (submit up to 3 poems, 10 pages maximum) FICTION (including flash fiction, short story, and novel excerpt. Up to 5000 words) NON FICTION (including memoir, essay, journal entries, and other creative non-fiction. Up to 3500 words) All works accepted for publication will receive 1 copy of Flying South

Member Spotlight: Steve Lindahl By Angell Caudill In 1928, Steve Lindahl’s grandfather bought a summerhouse on an island in the middle of Lake Hopatcong, New Jersey, far enough from New York City for his family to escape stifling pre-air conditioned city summers. Now, nearly ninety years later, generations of cousins still summer on the unique property. And, although two additional cottages have been added to accommodate expanding families, evening meals continue to be c
