Poetry in Plain Sight: A Statewide Poetry Initiative

 

Launched in Winston-Salem in 2013 by Winston-Salem Writers, Poetry in Plain Sight brings North Carolina poetry and poets to the public.       

 

Beyond Winston-Salem: Poetry in Plain Sight Expansion

 

In December 2019, under the guidance of former WSW President and Poetry in Plain Sight Program Director Donna Wallace, Winston Salem Writers officially signed over Poetry in Plain Sight to the North Carolina Poetry Society (NCPS). Under this arrangement, the program is now administered by the Board of NCPS and will streamline expansion to new host cities statewide.  In April, 2021, Poetry in Plain Sight posters will appear in Winston-Salem, New Bern and Burnsville — additional cities have shown a strong interest in becoming a host city.

Be sure to visit Winston-Salem’s Arts District in 2021 to view the strong 2021 lineup! Poetry by the current and past NC Poets Laureate will be featured. A list of the specific host sites will be announced first in WSW’s and NCPS’s newsletters.
