OPEN MIC NIGHT

During a WSW Open Mic Nights, members and future members read brief excerpts from their prose and poetry. Others attend just to socialize. The purpose is to give writers and poets greater experience in presenting to a live, friendly, and receptive audience. Unlike the process at a “slam,” there’s no judging.

Held the first Tuesday of each month, meetings are via ZOOM until future notice. Find the Zoom link in the current month's newsletter.

Since its inception in late 2005, Open Mic Nights has consistently been one of WSW’s most popular events.

Open Mic Guidelines

1. Sign-up begins at 6:45 p.m. and readings begin at 7 p.m. and go until 8:30 p.m.
2. WSW members will read first and visitors will be invited to read after all members have read.
3. Readings are five minutes, including introductory remarks.
4. It is recommended that you rehearse your reading in advance to keep it within the five-minute time limit.
