About Us

We are an incorporated, nonprofit association of writers, poets and others who support the art and craft of writing in its many forms.

We write fiction, nonfiction, poetry. We write plays, songs, scripts. We write about things human and nonhuman, worldly and unworldly, comic and tragic, true and false. And, while some of us teach writing; we all want to learn.

We write for money. For fame. For fun. But most of us write because we "can't not write."

WSW goals:

  1. Sponsor activities that help members grow in their craft and network with other writers and other arts groups.
  2. Serve as a clearinghouse for news of workshops, conferences, competitions, and other writing-related events.
  3. Provide a forum where members can share experiences, seek and offer advice, and discuss common opportunities and challenges.
  4. Recognize achievements of "local talent"—the famous and yet-to-be-famous poets, writers of fiction and nonfiction, playwrights, songwriters, screenwriters, journalists, business communicators, and others.
  5. Have a positive impact on our community by identifying ways our members can be of assistance to educational, cultural, and economic-development initiatives.
