Pat Schneider is a fuse lighter. Her work is gentle, playful, brilliant, and revolutionary." — Julia Cameron, author of The Artist's Way
For the fifth consecutive year, Pat Schneider, one of America's most inspiring teachers of creative writing, will come to North Carolina to lead a five-day workshop featuring both group sessions and individual consultation. The June program is scheduled to be Pat's only full-length workshop or retreat in the Southeastern United States this year. Writers at all levels of experience, from beginner to published author, benefit from Pat's advice. Her guiding passion: Help writers and poets find and liberate their true voices. For an idea of what that can mean to you, read what others told us after a "Write with Pat" week. Founder and director emeritus of Amherst Writers and Artists (AWA), Pat is the author of ten books of poetry and prose, including the best-selling Writing Alone and with Others (Oxford University Press, 2003). More than a dozen of Pat's poems have been aired on Garrison Keillor's Writer's Almanac, and a prize-winning documentary about her work, Tell Me Something I Can't Forget, was shown on PBS. Write with Pat 2010 will take place in a spacious, comfortable living-room setting in the activities center of Salemtowne Retirement Community in the northern part of Winston-Salem. The Salemtowne campus is especially colorful in the early summer. Pat will be assisted in the June program by Al Perry, president of WSW and an AWA-certified workshop leader, and Lane Goddard, an author, writing coach and credentialed AWA instructor. While Pat holds one-on-one critique and goal-setting conferences in the afternoons June 21-25, Al and Lane will lead optional activities on aspects of writing and publishing. Participants will be invited to help set priorities for these sessions.
Tuition for the June 21-25 workshop is $895 (WSW members on the roster as of January 15 are eligible for a discounted tuition of $775).
Enrollment will be limited to twelve (12) participants. You can register for the workshop by mailing WSW a $100 deposit. A waiting list will be set up when the 12-person enrollment limit is reached.
NOTE: Tuition payments, including deposits, are refundable only if the workshop is cancelled for any reason -- or if you decide not to attend and someone on the waiting list takes your place. Tuition balances must be paid by May 15.
